Harold Dredge, was born about 1908. His father was William Oliver (see 196 Ross Street ), born 1881 in Fitzroy died 1945 in Camberwell; his mother Jane Emma Simpkins born about 1889 in Queensland and died 1952 in Port Melbourne.
Harold married Mary Murphy. Only one child shows in the records, that is Beverley born about 1940.
Norah Howard remembers that he was known as 'Bill' and there were several children and that their mother died young, when she was pregnant. Beverley used to come to the Mallett's for home made ginger beer and would bring lots of little friends from Ross Street who were possibly cousins. Their grandmother lived in a house behind the Dredges in Ross Street. Later Beverley became a telephonist and married John Stanley Stephens at St Joseph's on 28th June 1958.
