James Peter Crichton is well remembered as a prominent citizen of Port Melbourne. Details of his contribution to the City of Port Melbourne are well recorded in Uren and Turnbull A History of Port Melbourne. He was very influential in the football club and the cricket club. He was born about 1871 in Fitzroy and was married in 1895 to Elizabeth Branton Portbury, who was born 1872 in Port Melbourne and died 1958 in Melbourne.
