Born Moonee Ponds, educated Brighton Road SS and Nott Street SS. Moore enlisted as a 20-year-old draper from 378 Bay Street, Port Melbourne, parents at 60 Beaconsfield Parade when the circular was returned. No known grave. A Death Notice in the Port Melbourne Standard reveals “Algy” was “the only surviving son of the family” following Norman’s death, there were three sisters

“On Sunken Road at Passchendaele. His cousin and myself buried a body that had the head blown off in a shell hole. We did not know at the time who it was, but a man in the Battalion as we were going to Paris on leave said he was with him at the time and three others were killed. No mark was put up”. (D. J. Bartels, 2042) Other witnesses confirmed Moore was blown to pieces by a shell explosion.

Crockford), Clarice, Marion and the late Lieut, N. J. Moore, killed 3rd October, 1917.
Dearly loved and sadly missed.
