Frank’s papers list his mother’s address as 96 Pickles Street however later in his file a letter from his mother changes her address from 97 Pickles Street to 196 Dow Street.
Frank’s brother Alexander was reported missing at Fromelles on 19 July 1916 later declared killed in action by a Court of Enquiry in August 1917.
In October 1918, Frank faced a court martial for being Absent Without Leave (AWL) from 11 August 1918 until apprehended by the Civilian Authorities at Glasgow on 27 August and on 31 August failing to proceed to his unit and remaining AWL until apprehended by the Military Authorities in London on 18 September. Initially Frank was sentenced to two years but this was commuted to one year by Brigadier General T H Dodds. A further 183 days were remitted in April 1919 and Frank sailed for Australia on 1 May. As a result of this conviction, Frank was not eligible to received his service medals however they were later restored and forwarded to 10 Henderson Street, South Melbourne.
