Parents: Philip Henry Joseph and Florence Annie FOWLER, born Port Melbourne. Enlisted as an 18-year-old motor body builder with his father as next of kin in Alphington. Posted Missing on 19 July, 1916, declared killed in action on that date around a month later based on Chaplain Rev J P Gilbert’s report of his burial, but it appears his remains were never found and he is one of many thousands of Australians listed as having no known grave. No circular returned.
