Private, 60th Infantry, died of disease at sea 9 August 1917 on return to Australia, aged 40, commemorated Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.

Sister: Mrs Norah HARRINGTON (Wales), born Cardiff, Wales. Brennan was Welsh with no next of kin in Australia, but a rare case where the ADFA database lists a local address (216 Rouse Street, Port Melbourne), although there is nothing within his NAA file to suggest where this was derived from. He enlisted as a 38-year-old ship’s fireman with his married sister in Cardiff as next of kin. After serving in Egypt and France, he was hospitalised early in 1917 with bronchitis and classified with general debility when he embarked aboard HMAT Karoola for return to Australia on 3 July, 1917 He died on board some five weeks later, the cause listed as a malignant kidney tumour and was buried at sea. A circular exists, but completed by AWM staff, details and the date of his arrival in Australia are unknown – his Attestation suggests he had served five years with the local Naval Reserve after a similar period with the Royal Navy Reserve in the UK.
