Hopkin searlier served as 1347, Private,5 Victorian Mounter Rifles during the Boer War, listed as a state school teacher from Port Melbourne, born 1875. He enlisted in Perth as a married 37 year old school teacher for WW1 duties on 6 July, 1915 and was assigned the rank of Lieutenant with the 10th LHR, returned July 1919. Despite enlisting from interstate, he was included on Honour Rolls published in the Standard, suggesting there was still a family connection to the district. Born Sandringham, 1875, death unknown.
