Joseph FAGAN was known as “Barney” before he died in the Caulfield Military Hospital of pulmonary tuberculosis on 11 November, 1924 (ironically the 5th anniversary Armistice Day), aged 29 years. He had previously been admitted to hospital in England with pleurisy and returned to Australia 29 September, 1919 after working for three months in England as a ship’s painter with Vickers. His death was attributed to war service and his mother received the Memorial Scroll and Plaque
