John DANIEL arrived back in November after losing his right eye while in action. A brother, Harold DANIEL (M.M), born Ballarat, educated Nott Street SS also enlisted giving his mother (Angelina) in Connelly Street, East Brunswick as next of kin, but he was a paver with the Harbour Trust and believed living in Port Melbourne. He was killed in action near Lihores, France on 10 August, 1918, his mother then in North Preston (now Reservoir). A third brother, Edward DANIEL enlisted February, 1915, again with his mother in what is now Reservoir. Born Creswick, education unknown. Disembarked 17 February, 1919 after suffering a gunshot wound to the right arm,
