The family matriarch, Louisa Chapman AMY died in the East Melbourne General Hospital on 4 September, 1917 while her husband and two sons were serving in France. The three servicemen may well have been unaware of their wife and mother’s passing when the sole Death Notice was placed by Florrie, George junior’s wife.
AMY – On the 4th September at the Melbourne Hospital, Louisa C. Amy, the dearly beloved mother of George (on active service) and loved mother-in-law of Florrie, and much loved grandma of little Florrie.
