Redevelopment sites in Port Melbourne
Sandridge Motors, near the Graham Street overpass, is for sale by Exrpession of Interest. According to the board, the land is zoned General Residential with a maximum height limit of 18 metres (6 storeys).
The Clare Castle Hotel on the other side of the overpass is also for sale. It too is on land zoned General Residential “offering excellent future development potential (STCA)“. It would appear the current lease has five years to run with no pre-specified options for renewal.
Across Ross Street, the Hibernian Hotel has been empty since a fire a number of years ago with no sign of restoration or redevelopment.
Just three weeks ago, fire tore through the former Port Theatre in Bay Street. Debris is still being removed from the interior of the building. Another prime corner site we need to keep an eye on.
81 Bridge St, on the corner of Bridge Street and Esplanade West , also suffered from a major fire. It’s being marketed as “Port Melbourne’s Jewell!! Rare 513SqM corner development opportunity“. The board goes on to say “… an increasingly rare ‘blank canvas’ opportunity to renovate/build a district showpiece (STCA), or explore the enormous multi-townhouse development potential (STCA)“. It was recently passed in at auction and is now for private sale.
