5487   (Parents: Thomas (late) and Mrs Alice SINGER (previously SIMMONS) born Richmond, educated  SS Port Melbourne.   He enlisted as a 20-year-old labourer with his mother in Footscray. Simmons died in his sleep after complaining of stomach pains while a Prisoner Of War, 31 August, 1918 after being captured in December, 1917.   Circular returned by mother from Foster in South Gippsland nominated Port Melbourne as his place of association.  Brother: 3248, Lawrence Stephen SIMMONS; and step-brothers: 8012,  Joe SINGER and 8011, William Henry SINGER all returned to Australia)
