Father: George WHITE, born Hampshire, England (arrived c. 1904 at 20 years), educated C of E School, Dorset, England. He enlisted as a 32-year-old labourer with his father next of kin in Dorset, his own address, c/o Marine Hotel, Port Melbourne and noted as working for the Melbourne Gas and Water Company. Like hundreds of other Australians, he was posted as Missing at Fromelles, later confirmed killed at a Court of Enquiry in August, 1917. Circular returned by his father noted White served (as Able Seaman) for 10 years in the Royal Navy.
