Nephew of 1942, Private Charles Bright , 38 Infantry, killed in action 7 June, 1917, Belgium, aged 39 who enlisted in June, 1916 as a 37-year-old labourer at Horsham, but with his address as 10 Victoria Street, South Melbourne, the same as his sister who was nominated as next of kin. A note on his file suggests Bright was recommended for the Victoria Cross for bravery in the action that saw him killed but there is no official record of him being recommended for any award of any significance.
