Although his mother was listed as next-of-kin, George Duncan was married (Elsie Amelia Davis, December 1914) in one of the sadder of many distressing cases during the influenza epidemic in early 1919, Elsie died the day after he returned from Europe, the attached report suggesting she was being taken to hospital at the very moment he disembarked at Sation Pier. George, David, Herbert and John Duncan were all brothers, their father john a long-serving policeman in Port Melbourne
