He enlisted as a 30 year-old stockman from Nullagine via Marble Bar, Western Australia, his father as next of kin, but marked as address unknown. The circular was returned by an aunt, Mrs Mary MARTIN at 462 City Road, South Melbourne who received MacDonald’s medals on the proviso that they be returned if his father was located.
